Our Weaving School:

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to learn from women who have spent years mastering the art of backstrap weaving. You will learn about the history of weaving, how to select the best materials, make a weaving, and appreciate the rich culture of textiles in Guatemala.

Each course is individually taught; not only do you learn about the different weaving processes and how to prepare the loom, but you actually weave your own garment to keep. The courses differ depending on the amount of time you wish to dedicate and the complexity of the designs that you create.

Courses are offered Monday through Friday, from 9 am - 5 pm. Since you will be paired with your own private teacher, you may start weaving classes any week of the year, any time of the day. Costs include all necessary materials. You may also wish to attend one of the many Spanish schools in Quetzaltenango at the same time that you are studying with us.
