Flying to Guatemala City
A number of international airlines have flights to Guatemala City.
To find good deals on your plane ticket, we recommend that you inquire

You can travel from Guatemala City to Xela by bus.
Buses to Xela
Several first class bus companies provide daily transportation to Xela. The trip takes approximately 4 hours. Those flying into Guatemala City will need to take a taxi cab from the airport to the bus stations (approximately a 15 minute ride costing $6-8. The trip costs approximately $4.50
Galgos Line has buses that leave Guatemala City at the following times daily:

8:30 am
11:00 am
2:30 pm
5:00 pm
Alamo buses leave Guatemala City at the following times daily:
6.15 am
8.00 am
10:30 am
12:35 pm
3:00 pm
5:30 pm
We recommend that you do not travel at night in Guatemala. Therefore, the latest buses that would get to Xela before dark are the 2:30 pm Galgos bus and the 3:00pm Alamo bus.
Staying in Guatemala City
If you need to spend the night in Guatemala City, we recommend a guest house close to the
airport called Hotel Dos Lunas. The hotel provides a free pick up service at the airport,
and can provide transportation to bus stations the next morning. More information can be

In Quetzaltenango
The staff at Escuela Juan Sisay offers a free pick up service in Xela when students arrive (monday to saturday). If you arrive on sundays please go directly to the school (15. Avendida, 8 - 38, Zona 1). We will take you directly to your host family so you can get settled in right away.
