our school

At Juan Sisay we don't just claim to be a total immersion Spanish School, we are. Our daily one-on-one instruction are held 5 hours a day, we arrange afternoon activities that will complete the student's immersion to Spanish as a second language.

We encourage our students to live with a Guatemalan family in a homestay. Students will get three meals per day with the family while interacting with in Spanish with the family members.

We have an arrangement with Universidad Rural de Guatemala and it is possible to obtain college credits with your participation at Juan Sisay. If you need this service please tell us in advance.

We have an extensive library with grammar and reference books, dictionaries and literary masterpieces written by Latin American authors, such as Gabriel García Marquez, Mario Vargas Llosa and Miguel Angel Asturias. You can also find the translation of the “Popol Vuh” an ancient text containing the mythology of Quiché people.

If you need to use some of these materials on your lessons you can use them while you are at the school. If you want to lend some book from the school's library it is also possible with a refundable deposit of US$ 10 per book. The school offers several documentaries and films showing political and cultural aspects of Latin América
