We dedicate a portion of our profits to support several social and ecological projects in and around Quetzaltenango, encouraging our students to participate and volunteer in the following programs:

Education for the children: We believe that education is a crucial way to encourage a peaceful social change. Many Guatemalan families cannot afford the costs of school for some or all of their children. Juan Sisay provides support to these families by paying school fees and buying uniforms, books and schooling materials. We also prepare a special dinner for these families every three months.

English for children: Speaking English can be an incredible asset for Guatemalans, however private tuition is pretty expensive for most. With the support of our students we provide English lessons in a local public school for children aged between 9 and 13 years.

We also sponsor a volunteer English teaching project where people can come for a minimum of two months, stay with one of our host families (paying US$ 45.00 a week) and participate in our after school activities. Volunteers teach English to girls from 9 to 13 years old in public schools during the week. This program runs from February to September.

Reforestation: This project consists in planting trees in deforested areas around Quetzaltenango. We organize trips to these villages depending on the amount of students. Seedlings and planting equipment used is purchased with school funds.

We also established contact with EntreMundos organization which acts like an intermediary between volunteers and organizations offering several opportunities that may adapt to your needs.
