There are many local markets that are accessible from Xela on day trips. One of the more famous ones is the San Francisco El Alto market each Friday. But there are also markets in Zunil, Almolonga, Momostenango...etc.

La Democracia market in Xela is a large outdoor event that takes place everyday of the week. The market can be found between 15th to 18th Ave and 2nd to 4th Calle in Zona 3. You can find everything here from fresh fruits & vegetables, clothing, shoes, toys, appliances, beds...etc!

The other large market in Xela is called the Minerva Market and is located in Zona 3 on the right side of 4ta Calle just past the "Compleo" (sports complex). Behind this market is the 2nd class bus terminal where you can find a bus to anywhere in Guatemala.
