ICAmigos is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-religious and non-governmental organization founded in 1991 in order to be part of the solution of the problems that have affected and continue to affect our Mayan communities. ICAmigos is motivated by principles of respect for human dignity and social participation in the search for common good.

ICAmigos has to date worked extensively in five projects that include, a Reforestation project, Bilingual Education with Spanish and the Mayan language of Mam, Development of Artisan groups, a primary school for girls, Literacy and Education program for inmates of the Women's Prevention Centre of Quetzaltenango, and a Medical Clinic.

ICAmigos was founded by Guatemalans and is maintained by Guatemalan workers and foreign volunteers. Volunteers have the opportunity to work and live with Guatemalans in a number of interesting opportunities. It is a self-sufficient organization, supported financially by donations, a portion of student tuition of the ICA Spanish School and a portion of teacher salaries. We welcome volunteers and visitors from around the world who are willing to give a minimum of three weeks time to work with a project.
